We are seeking expressions of interest from artists, curators and organisations to create a second iteration of the WE ARE HERE(2013) artwork on the northern Foley Street facade at 90 Oxford Street, Darlinghurst.

The artwork of the second iteration will be influenced by the themes in the WE ARE HERE artwork of 2013. The works are encouraged to be site specific and connect to the location and history of the area in a meaningful way.

We are seeking works from a range of mediums such as sculptural installation, light art, photography, paint and mixed media. The artists submission will need to demonstrate a site-specific connection to the WE ARE HERE themes.

Budget

The total budget for the entire facade is $200,000 + GST. It is anticipated three to five artists will contribute to the facade with separate artworks at different locations or through design development with the curator and other artists.

The $200,000 budget will be split across the selected three to five different artworks/artists.

Budgets are to cover all costs for the project.

Process

The curator will select three to five artists for the Stage 3 – Design and Budget development. This will take place between 20 July –3 August 2022. Upon successful submission, each Stage 3 artist will be paid $1,000 (exclusive of GST).

Stage 3 will result in the finalisation of the design, installation plan, maintenance plan, engineering and insurances.

Acceptance in Stage 3 does not guarantee inclusion in the final artwork.
